MS-MNAMS (Senior Consultant Surgeon & General Practitioner)
Dr. N. N. Murali was born at Kottarakara, Kollam District, Kerala in 1952 as the second son of Late Sri. N. S. Narayanan Potty & Smt. Droupadi Antharjanam. After securing MBBS degree from T. D. Medical College, Alappuzha in 1975, he completed MS (General Surgery) from Govt. Medical College, Trivandrum in 1980 and DipNB from All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi in the year 1983.
With a noble saga of humanitarian services, he joined Kerala Health Services Department as an Assistant Surgeon (Additional Insurance Medical Officer) in 1979 at ESI Hospital, Ezhukone, Kollam District. There he started his career as a surgeon with very minimal hospital facilities.
Within years he established as poor men’s “Potty Doctor” because of his yeoman services to the locality. He has to his credit 29 years of glorious service in the department. He retired as the Deputy Director of Health Services and District Medical Officer, at Pathanamthitta, Kerala on 31st December 2007. He is very much fortunate to get his retirement ceremony at Sabarimala Sannidhanam “National Pilgrim Centre”, in the presence of the Chief Minister Sri. V. S. Achuthanandan, Health Minister Smt. Sreemathi Teacher, Devaswam Board Minister Sri. G. Sudhakaran, Transport Minister Sri. Mathew T. Thomas, Sri. K. Francis George MP, Sri Raju Abraham MLA & so many other eminent social and political leaders. Chief Minister Sri. V. S. Achuthanandan honored him with a memento for his meritorious services. He was instrumental for the construction of a full-fledged Operation Theater at Sabarimala Sannidhanam where crores of pilgrims assemble.
